Lights, camera, Carrington! The top five news stories making up our 2024 PR highlights

We love making headlines. Let’s face it: as a dedicated PR and digital marketing agency, securing top-tier coverage in national and regional publications still thrills us.

We’re regularly sending out engaging press releases and comments by leading experts, that span a wide range of B2B and B2C industries, but there’s nothing quite like seeing a piece of coverage in the wild!

After a flurry of activity on behalf of clients such as Wilkin Chapman, Duncan & Toplis and The Lincolnshire Show, we’ve secured 819 pieces of coverage so far this year (that’s a whopping 52% more per client than in 2023) – and we’re not done yet!

Here are the Carrington crew’s top five coverage results from 2024:

5) BBC Look North for the Lincolnshire Show

After being selected as the PR and marketing agency for the Lincolnshire Show – the largest agricultural show in Lincolnshire which attracts around 60,000 people every year – we secured a whopping 268 pieces of media coverage publicising the Show’s biggest ever offering.

Our favourite of the bunch is Lincolnshire’s very own Peter Levy getting stuck in and having fun at the 139th annual Lincolnshire Show for BBC Look North – which featured a full-length televised segment with live reporting from the event itself.

4) The Daily Express for Matthew Douglas

We’ve been raising the profile of the “Best Financial Advice firm in The East of England”, Matthew Douglas, all year. In that time we’ve overseen a full website SEO audit, written and curated countless blogs, distributed press releases and implemented impactful PPC campaigns driving high-value leads.

But the stand-out result for us has to be securing a full article on the front page of the Daily Express website, in which Matthew Douglas’ MD Russell Brett offered his acutely insightful predictions ahead of the “difficult” Autumn Budget.

Better yet, the article was also republished by syndicated local papers throughout the UK, extending its reach even further!

3) The Telegraph for Duncan & Toplis

As one of the leading voices in business across a range of sectors – including agriculture, academies, healthcare, transport, haulage & logistics and professional services – Duncan & Toplis has a robust and varied press presence.

We take pride in helping to amplify the expertise of its team of tax experts and business leaders. That’s why Duncan & Toplis’ head of agriculture Mark Chatterton’s comments on the plight of farms after record rainfall threatened crop yields, is firmly in our top five.

With 45.6 million unique website visitors and a domain rating of 94/100, The Telegraph article drove 463 engagements and racked up 63,700 estimated views.

2) The Daily Express for Duncan & Toplis

As part of its expertise in legal matters and stalwart business acumen, Duncan & Toplis (via our trusty PR team) often comment on topical matters making the news. Our second favourite piece of coverage secured throughout 2024 is head of tax Graeme Hills’ predictions in the Daily Express ahead of the anxiously awaited Autumn Budget.

With 112 million unique site visits and an impressive domain rating of 93/100, the Daily Express article garnered over 65,000 estimated views.

1) BBC News for Beaumond House

Easily one of Newark’s best-known charitable causes, Beamond House Hospice Care routinely makes headlines for its community-centric fundraising efforts and the incredible drive of its patrons to support this vital cause, which enables people to live well and die well through outstanding care.

We proudly support Beamond House with pro bono press and PR. So, it goes without saying that our favourite piece of coverage for 2024 is securing a sought-after spot on the BBC News website to recognise one of their best fundraisers, Les Reid

Alongside this, we also got Les on BBC Radio Nottingham, Notts TV and in the Newark Advertiser and other local titles, generating lots of publicity for the charity.
