The Brief

Beaumond House Hospice Care is a registered charity that provides free palliative care and support to patients and their families living in Newark and Sherwood in Nottinghamshire. 

The charity provides a range of services including in-patient care, day therapy, hospice at home, bereavement support and complementary therapy. 

We were approached to help Beaumond House raise awareness across its local area about the valuable service it provides, with a particular focus on tackling misconceptions about hospice care and promoting its fundraising events.

Our Approach

Working alongside its fundraising and communications team, we promoted the charity’s fundraising campaigns and events through a series of press releases and media opportunities – with the objective of not only raising awareness, but also driving donations. We also highlighted the real-life impact of the hospice by spotlighting its supporters and ambassadors, as they undertook ambitious fundraising activities in memory of their loved ones.

To raise awareness of hospice care and the broad range of services it offers, we tapped into the local news agenda, identifying where Beaumond House could contribute. As a result, we secured coverage on the BBC East Midlands Today evening news, which highlighted the importance of choice for palliative care patients who wish to die at home. 

In addition to this, we used national awareness days, such as Hospice Care Week, to shine a light on hospice care staff and tackle misconceptions about their roles. 

To position Beaumond House’s senior leadership team as thought leaders in the palliative care industry, we targeted trade publications to identify opportunities for the team to share their expertise. As a result, we secured coverage in titles such as The Carer to strengthen the charity’s authority in the industry.

Meanwhile, we improved the website’s search visibility with SEO improvements, resulting in a 148% increase in organic traffic in 3 months. To continue generating positive results for Beaumond House, we have now been engaged to devise a communications framework to identify and generate press opportunities over the next 12 months.
